"THE COMFORT PROJECT" by Mrs. Older

Over the years, in spite of having a reputation as a nuclear talker, people who know me well know that I am a good listener as well. And though my roles as a pastor's wife, a writer and conference speaker has afforded me the honor of being someone other women feel "safe" to speak to......this blog has given me the chance to "meet" so many women via email (awordtothewives@gmail.com).  I would never have gotten the chance to get to know so many of you.  Thank you for trusting me.

I cannot count the times... whether it's reading an email from a reader of this blog.. or as I am speaking to a wife, or mother, or friend - who is GOING THROUGH SOMETHING DEVASTATING...  I think to myself, "I wish she could speak to "So and So" because "So and So" went through THIS EXACT SITUATION LAST YEAR and GOD HELPED HER THROUGH IT.  There is nothing like hearing that someone who HAS GONE THROUGH exactly what you are GOING THROUGH.. has come through BETTER THAN THEY WERE BEFORE in some way.  I cannot of course, share someone else's story.. and I never do.

If you are someone who has never had a moment when ALL YOU HAD WAS GOD... and you discovered that ALL YOU NEED IS GOD... I feel bad for you.

There comes a time in many lives.... a time of utter grief, or guilt, or shame, or pain when.. NO ONE SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT WE ARE GOING THROUGH. And in those moments... we cry out to God.. and we discover that HE UNDERSTANDS. And somehow He reaches down and comforts us.. through The Holy Spirit. And then life - and the future - become so less scary because from that moment on we know that in THAT MOMENT OF UTTER DESPAIR... HE IS THERE.  He HIMSELF comforted us.

The Bible tells us that we are to USE THOSE MOMENTS to COMFORT OTHERS:
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.  2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NLT)

I am asking you to be part of what I have named "The Comfort Project" - Comforting Others With The Comfort You Have Received.

Have you survived infidelity in your marriage?  Tell us how God held you through it?
Have you lost a child and wanted to give up on life? Tell us how God comforted you through it?
Is your husband addicted to gambling?  Pornography?  Tell us how God comforted you through it?
Did you fail as a parent and think you had truly harmed your child?  Tell us how God comforted you through it?
Have you endured severe financial stress?  Tell us how God comforted you through it?

Because we aren't supposed to HIDE from one another.  Did you know that?   Re read that Scripture above. It says that you were comforted SO THAT YOU can comfort others.

Send an email to me at "awordtothewives@gmail.com".  Tell me YOUR STORY.
You can send it anonymously.
OR
You can post a comment here.. anonymously.. and I will include it.

SERVE SOMEONE else by sharing your comfort with them.

Thank you so much..
Mrs. Older
