Some of us have big shame. Big secrets. Some women are hiding things like adultery and addictions and decadent behavior. Some women are hoping no one really investigates why one kid looks so different from the other kids living in the house. Some women live in shame because of abortion. Some are ashamed of the secret lives their husbands live. Big shame. Big secrets. But don't think that little shame and little secrets do any less damage. Many women live ashamed of their appearance or social standing. They aren't thin enough, or pretty enough, or rich enough. They aren't smart enough. Some women are ashamed of where they live, and how their houses are.
We live with the shame of never being enough of what we think we should be. You can call it whatever word you want but we inherited it from Eve....one second after she disobeyed God.... we began to hide ourselves in shame from Him.
Something inside... in the deepest part... keeps telling us we are UN-LOVE-ABLE.
And in my experience...
THIS IS A FOUNDATIONAL REASON WE ARE SO UNHAPPILY MARRIED.
WE feel UN-LOVE-ABLE.
This BASIC loss.. this BASIC need.. puts so much strain on so many marriages.. because... we want that love.
We need that love.
We crave that love.
YOU WILL NEVER FIND IT IN YOUR HUSBAND, YOUR CHILDREN, YOUR HOME, YOUR CAREER, YOUR CHURCH, YOUR FRIENDS OR YOURSELF.
The problem is... that's exactly where so many wives are looking for it.
And that's exactly why so many wives are so angry when they don't find it there.
But how can a mere mortal give you the kind of love that only God has to give?
LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES means
LOOKING FOR LOVE WITHOUT LOOKING TO GOD.
God's plan is for you to get to know Him.
I AM AMAZED... SADDENED... BY HOW MANY CHRISTIANS WILL OVERLOOK AND YAWN OVER THAT LAST STATEMENT.
ASTOUNDED. ASTOUNDED that knowing God is the last thing we care about but the first thing God cares about.
The Bible? For you to get to know Him.
The Holy Spirit? For you to get to know Him.
The Church? For you to get to know Him.
Because...
"..Whoever would come near to God must believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him out." Hebrews 11:6 (Amplified)
How sad it is... how sad...sad...sad.. to speak with hundreds of church going women... who "do devotions" and don't know God. Who never miss church but don't know how to pray. Who know He has POWER but never feel it themselves.
Who STILL FEEL SO UN-LOVE-ABLE. And it is the root that is growing a seed of angry resentment all through their lives.
Do you feel UN-LOVE-ABLE?
Do you feel LESS THAN you are supposed to be?
It's a sign that you have not really connected to your Creator.
I'm not giving you pie in the sky stuff here.
I'm telling you to tell God that you need Him to send His Spirit to reveal HIS LOVE to YOUR HEART.
Because..
WHEN YOU KNOW THAT THE CREATOR OF ALL THAT IS...
LOVES YOU WITH ALL HE HAS...
It won't matter to you how many mere humans love - or do not love- you.
YES. It sounds simplistic.
Should it be complicated?
