UNHAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Tomorrow is Mother's Day. My mother, an incredible woman of God, is still alive and healthy and 90 years old.  For me, it will be a wonderful day with my mother (and father).

BUT.. did you know that... MORE WOMEN SPECIFICALLY AND PURPOSELY STAY HOME FROM CHURCH ON MOTHER'S DAY THAN ANY OTHER  SUNDAY OF THE YEAR?
(Yes. this is a fact...)

I am all for fun, and happiness... and laughing and JOY.. but...truth is.....FOR MANY PEOPLE,  MOTHER'S DAY IS A VERY, VERY DIFFICULT AND SAD DAY.  Be aware of this. Be kind because of this.  Help someone through this.

This might be their first Mother's Day without their mother.  Many moms passed away since last Mother's Day. Think about people you may know who are in this situation and DO something to reach out.  Include them in your plans. Some may not have lost Mom as recently... but STILL are PAINFULLY aware on Mother's Day that Mom is gone. Be kind to these people.  Talk about THEIR mom to THEM.  Honor HER even if she is no longer here.

Another source of pain on Mother's Day is very real for women who could not become a mother.  While many of us take the flower, or card, or chocolate that our church hands out tomorrow to honor Mothers.......there are women right there whose hearts are breaking because they cannot stand to receive it.    Be sensitive to this.   Chances are some of them will not be in church tomorrow... but if they are.........let them know you care about their aching heart.

Some mothers have lost children to sickness or accidents.   This is beyond pain. Beyond pain.  There are no words to comfort a mother who has lost a child.  Mother's Day brings up that pain again.  Pray for her heart today.  Pray.... pray... pray for these moms. PRAY.

Other women you know have had mothers who did them great harm.  Mothers who abandoned them - physically, emotionally - or mothers who abused them.  Mothers who didn't love them... don't care about them... and who harmed rather than helped their own children.  For these people, Mother's Day is a reminder of all they did without.  If you are an older woman who knows these women... REACH OUT.  BE Jesus to that broken person. Pray for them. Pray for these people who had mothers who did not love, did not lead, did not set a good example.

With this grief, and pain, and sorrow......our only help, our only hope, our only healing....
comes through the Cross.
He came to HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED.

"The LORD is close to the broken hearted and SAVES those who are CRUSHED in spirit."   (Psalm 34:18)

It may FEEL like you are alone... in your brokenheartedness.. but that is not the truth.
The LORD.. the LORD HIMSELF is CLOSE TO YOU.. and
SAVING you from your CRUSHED heart.

There is HOPE.. there is HEALING... when we call out to the Lord.  Call out to the LORD.. if your heart is breaking.. CALL OUT to the LORD for people you know whose hearts are breaking.  There is HOPE... when we look to HIM.

"Lord, send YOUR comfort through YOUR children to those people whose hearts will feel crushed again tomorrow."

XO,
Mrs. Older

  1. This blog was recommended by a friend. I read it every day. Today especially I know you touched many to be aware that some women will be hurting deeply tomorrow. Thank you whoever you are.
