FINAL - HOW TO NOT BE A CRASH LANDING HUSBAND

This is the final part of the three part blog to and about husbands. It's not as lengthy as the first two...although it isn't short.  I think it might be worth the LENGTH... don't know if you'll agree.. LOL... I suggest you read Part One and Two... Back to our review of Jesus prayer in John 17:

• Verses 14 and 16: Jesus says to His Father:  "I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world." This is the part which, for many husbands, is the core of the compromise.  Who wants to say to his wife, "O.K. baby.. The path I am leading our family on is going to cause most people we know to hate and despise us and our kids...o.k. ???" Let's remember that  Jesus LOVED more than ANY OTHER PERSON WHO HAS EVER LIVED... and yet... He knew that following Him means walking away from the world and the way the world does things.   Fitting in is not the goal of a Follower... Following is the goal of a Follower and of a family who follows.   This is not the same as being WEIRD.. this is not what some people who ARE - let's face it - WEIRD and WACKY think it is.  It simply means that when a family follows Jesus... the spirit that rules the world will be ill at ease around them... and they will feel ill at ease around the spirit that rules the world.  LIGHT is an IRRITANT to people who are happy to live in darkness.  The GOSPEL is an UNINVITED guest to Planet Earth.   People usually PREFER darkness...    This is part of the protection Jesus gave His followers.. this is why a man must PROTECT his family from The Evil One.  It takes a real man to stand up against the way everyone does life......

• Verses 17-19  " Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.  Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth."    We cannot make ourselves holy.  God gives holiness as a gift.  This is a great truth a man should be teaching his family. God's GRACE... the relief of NOT EARNING salvation.. NOT thinking that being holy is a set of rules and regulations....but a gift of LOVE from a MERCIFUL father.  A husband.. a father... gives HIMSELF... his very life... so that his family can know God's truth. It's the MAIN job of the MAIN MAN - seeing his family walking in the holiness that God gives all who believe.  I would also like to gently remind that while the pastor/teacher's job is to pastor/teach.....the MAIN spiritual instructor of a man's family is THE MAN.   I am not all Legalistic Louise here when I suggest that perhaps?? turning off the TV.... the computer... the iPhone and the XBox... and using that time to INSTRUCT his family in the word and ways of God is the wisest thing any husband and father can do.  You don't have to be like a weirdo prophet.....nut case... wacko... who just sits around reading the Bible to his wife and kids and eating locusts.... NOPE... but.....let your family know that God.. and His Word and His Ways and His Will and His purpose is the MAIN purpose of the MAIN MAN.   And be LOVING... LOVING... A LOVING Father is... the goal.

Finally....The rest of John 17 shows Jesus heart and HIS REQUEST to God that we have UNITY and DEEP LOVE for God and one another.  A husband who divides his own family is like a.......is like a.........a........there are no words for a husband who does that.  Jesus gave Himself as a sacrifice.......to bring unity among His followers...  Curiously... He uses the term "that they all may be one"..........which is close to the phrase the Bible uses for marriage.. that a husband and wife become one...  A husband NEVER divides his own home...

Don't give up on your marriage dear wife... With God all things are possible.
A praying wife.........can move mountains... and her husband's heart... by pouring her words out to God... letting HIM speak to Mr.
A wife should speak to God about her husband.. and let God speak to her husband about his wife.
It isn't easy.... not for the motor mouths among us... but... it works.
